Obsessing over this song. It’s sung by a Brazilian artist, Michel Telo. The song is so catchy as is the dance.

This is one of the songs that should be on your summer mix, for by the pool, in the car, pretending you’re brazilian and having a sing-a-long! At work, after the store is closed we always blast latin american music- our forbidden fruit during our laborous hours- and this is definitely a store favorite!

ignore my serious face! Ah!

I really loved this outfit- transitional & casual. I could wear it any season really. It’s just perfect for a late night dinner or drinks. I wore this for the last weekend I was in NYC- now I’m back in Charlotte for a month or two until I head back for good!

I’m working on this film project that should be ready in about two weeks or so, and I’m really really excited about it. Wahooooo. Fashion and film. These are a few of my fav-or-ite things!

The past couple of months have been a hair adventure for me. As a hispanic girl, hair is a big fuckin’ deal. One does not just dip dye their hair. One does just does not bleach their hair. One just does not go to the beach and get their hair wet.

You see us all around, covering our hair in bags, in tubies,protecting it from the elements. So this semester I’ve been a little more carefree with my hair to the dismay of my mother

I ombre’d it myself (and had a hideous orange dead hair stage). Here’s me trying to hide the deadness of my hair in a ponytail braid.

And then I bleached it again and died the middle brown and it looked FABULOUS.

But then I was all “I want colored hair. NOW” The freedom of having blonde tips was too temping for me. I needed to take advantage of it. I was dreaming of putting pink, purple, blue - any color I possibly could.

My first mission was purple and it came out more blue than the purple it said it would be. Then I got annoyed. And then I got bored. And now I’m back to black and happier then ever!

It’s so amazing to me how hair can change a mood or the complete look of a person. I feel so different when I wear my hair curly vs straight, and especially with the ombre and colored hair, I felt different too!

Mixing different textures and getting the feel of all these different fabrics in my wardrobe is a really enjoyable part of getting dressed everyday.

Today, denim on chiffon on ____? I’m not sure what this fabric is called, but the way its made gives an effect of lifting up at the edges. Also making its first appearance, my DIY lace inset denim jacket! Wahoo!

I won two tickets through twitter (yes….through twitter) to attend the premiere of God Save My Shoes, a documentary about ducks.

Just kidding, it’s about shoes, obviously. It is “the first documentary film to explore the intimate relationship women have with their shoes.” Pretty rad. I think it’s important to note I’ve never actually won anything in my life, not even a dollar on a lottery scratch off, so I am stoked out of my mind. They’re mailing me a shoe obsession BARBIE DOLL as well. May God bless twitter.

It will be showing all week long at Quad Cinemas in NYC.

The French man is absolutely right about the shoe obsession though “It doesn’t go through reason”.

Tonight, i’m going to see Metronomy at Irving Plaza. They’re a UK based band, formed in 1999, and have been steadily gaining momentum with their 2011 release, The English Riviera. They’re playing three nights in a row in NYC, including today through Saturday. Cool stuff.

Swimsuit Season for a Fat Chick

Always makes me nervous. I’m obsessed with swimsuits. Obsessed. With this obsession comes a down fall..

I feel like I can never find the perfect one. That one piece that makes me feel as some sort of invincible mermaid seductress. All these frilly, barely any fabric swimsuits that are incredibly cute that I could never ever feel comfy wearing (it ain’t me, if that’s you, go for it, sister) that could be perfect. But I’m not the size of the model, nor do I desire to be.

I just ordered this piece from ASOS.

And I just canceled. I realized it wouldn’t flatter me the way I wanted it do. I really loved the mesh and cornelli detailing, its incredibly hot. Sexy, even. I could totally be a babe in this swimsuit but… It just would not work out for me, the cut-out sides would unflatter my body in such a way I’d become worrisome and even fucking self conscious about the way I look which not what anything you wear, should ever do to you, y’know? This would not be the swimsuit I would become be the mermaid seductress I’ve dreamed to be . Maybe it’s all in my mind. I’m not one for following any sort of rules on my figure- I wear what I want, when I want, as long as it fits me properly. I guess I’m not a cut out swimsuit type of girl y’all. I could just be being a big baby, and come tomorrow, I’ll regret not snagging this for a mere $59, but what’s a girl to do?

Anyway, I have tried the whole, high -waist brief and bikini top look, and don’t get me wrong, I love a high-waist brief but bikini tops are incredibly annoying to me. I’m like a child, when I’m at the beach (just messin’, I’m a child all the time), bouncin’ about, and the kind of bikini tops (that are in my price range- I’m not about to drop eighty dollars for a well fitting but horrendous top) are just too flimsy and I’m flailing and then my boobs are flying and then the waves hit me and I’ve spent so much more time readjusting my suit then actually enjoying the ocean. I need sustainability in a swimsuit.

So I’ve decided to say, “Fuck it.” This year will be the year I try a one piece.
